A question about the 12 Gauge pistol

Is that thing controlable?  Seems to me that the kick would blow that pistol back into your face and coldcock you on the spot?  Yeah I read the ad ... 8 -16 weeks delivery ... but is there any feedback on how well it works?

Nox, it will depend on the load you use. What is the chamber size of this pistol, 2.75", 3", 3.5"?
The longer the chamber the more powerful the load can be. Another factor in recoil is the weight of the projectile or amount of shot. The heavy the load, the harder the kick. Having said that a 12 gauge pistol his only one use, to kill things up close and personal. It would be an excellent home defense weapon. Many experts recommend a shotgun for home defense, with bird shot. Something like a #7, or a #8 shot. The advantage is the bird shot won't go through you wall/walls and into your neighbor's house possibly injuring or killing one of them.

For home defense I can't think of a better weapon than a 12 ga. pistol, hopefully with a pump action. A single shot pistol won't do that much good if you have multiple invaders. For shells, like I said above, most experts will say a #7 or #8 will do just fine. Up close, bird shot will blow a nice 1-1.5 inch hole clean thru the intruder. Myself, I'd prefer #6 shot in a 2 3/4" shell. I like the Winchester Western Super X load in this because it has the highest muzzle velocity, 1365 ft./sec. I also prefer 2 3/4" because my reloader is setup for those. You can use shorter shells in a shotgun chambered for longer shells.

I went back and looked at the ads. Didn't find the one I originally posted about ... it was $129 and a breech loader. I did see a muzzle loader (and watched the video) which was $450. No way I would want that one ... but this video did indeed verify all that you said about the loads and recoil.

I appreciate the info my friend ... nice to know someone who knows what the hell they are talking about.

Thanks for the video ... methinks Nox be lernin from da canukian ... the first shot proved my original fear about getting coldcocked firing it ... second shot proved my hand/arm does not have enough ass to control the damned thing ... plus I don't think the guy in the video is NOT gonna get a job offer from rossi ... unless rossi is hiring targets ...

Here Nox, read this article. For home defense a shotgun is hard to beat, but you have to go with a design that is manageable, and practical. If this is to be a single purpose weapon, the below article is something you should read, and research further. A shotgun in a tactical configuration is the best way to go for close quarter defense, i.e. your home. If you chose one with a stock, replace it with a pistol grip. It will make the weapon even more manageable in close quarters. If you like to squirrel hunt, keep the stock.

If you are looking at home defense only then the Mossberg short models are perfect.

I think Kel-Tec also makes shortie shotguns.
