Baseball has the same issue going these days. Seems some players think it's more of a fashion show than a sports game. Mostly black players have diamond girlie earrings and neck tats these days. I used to wear a small hoop earring back in the late '60's. Then NSYNC came out with TWO earrings and all the teenyboppers
came out of the woodwork to emulate them. Took mine out when it became so cliche. They all want to be different, but yet, they all look the same. Go figger!!
