Yankees' Aaron Hicks benched after terrible mistake leads to runs
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/yankees- ... leads-runs
Was one of the most pathetic incidents I have ever seen. It looks like Hicks was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Dropping the ball in the left field corner and then just momentarily standing there sulking failed to pick up the ball in time to throw it in. I am guessing he thought the ball was foul. Then he missed another catch, and struck out over and over as he had been doing lately. He seems to have become the new Joey Gallo except at least Gallo played excellent defense. I had mentioned previously it seemed Hicks was going to be the next one boo'ed out of town. The Rays are a hungry team, young, and very impressive. But it's sometimes painstaking to have to listen to their announcers, Toupee Staats and his sidekick, BA (for Bull Shyt Artist). BA has diarrhea of the mouth. He just likes to hear himself talk making presumptuous remarks to make himself look smart. Staats is either dyslexic or drunk. Can't even count the number of times he id's the players wrong, or gets the count wrong. If the opposing team makes soft contact and gets a hit, they make it sound like they were cheap hits. But when the Rays do the same, they come off making it sound like they were well placed hits.
And throughout the season, they constantly brought up how many injuries they had (as if they were the only team with injuries). Now BA had the audacity to boast about how the team went out and got replacement players, while other teams were 'whining' about their team's injuries? Sheesh! That's all he did all year was whine about their injuries. The Rays are an excellent team, but I wish they would replace their commentators.
But presently, the Yankees are on the verge of the biggest choke since 2004. They should be called the New York Judge instead of the New York Yankees, as Judge seems to be the only one doing anything.
Maybe the Red Sox were right. The Yankees DO suck!!

MLB Players Association says 2023 rule changes impact 'the integrity of the game itself'
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/mlb-play ... grity-game
Apparently I'm not alone in questioning these new rules. Seems baseball has done fine in years past! Why are they so concerned with the fan base desires? Let's face it, a lot who attend games just drink and act out like
banshees thinking they know baseball, when they were just playing on swings in their yard just a few years back. Just seems they are complicating things more than they need to. I would have preferred to see them eliminate the automatic runner on second in extra innings and the requirement for a relief pitcher to have to face at least three batters or finish an inning.
So there's going to be digital clock on the back wall for the pitcher to see the timer? And that's not going to be a distraction for him when he pitches? And who resets the timer? What if there is a glitch in the timer?
I am not sure how much time it will save in a game to make all this worth it. You would think the longer a game, the more bang for your buck.
And who is going to keep an eye on fielders to ensure they are exactly in place? I am thinking the umpires are going to be burdened most of all. If anything, all this malarkey is compelling me to consider not following baseball after this year. And I have been following it since 1960.
btw.....a few future superstars on the rise to watch out for.
Julio Rodriguez on the Mariners.
Michael Harris II on the Braves
and particularly impressed with Oneil Cruz on the Pirates.

Rockies' C.J. Cron breaks MLB Statcast, launches home run out of Coors Field
Cron demolished a baseball 504 feet

Now maybe some people can appreciate that Mickey Mantle once hit a ball 565 feet!
He hit the upper lights on the right field facade once. If it didn't hit the light fixture it would have gone out of the park completely, and they say it might have been over 600 feet if it weren't for the lights it hit.

In my opinion, any record from Coors Field should have an * because the altitude lets the ball carry further.Nyte_Byrd wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 10:10 am Rockies' C.J. Cron breaks MLB Statcast, launches home run out of Coors Field

I don't know about this, but it sounds good!
"A Mickey Mantle buff claims a 1960 home run hit out of Tiger Stadium by the former New York Yankees star is the longest ever measured -- 643 feet, .0069 inches."
