Over the years, there often seemed to be awards given to the wrong player (IMO).
For instance, when Justin Morneau won MVP for AL, I thought Jeter deserved it more.
Then Shohei Ohtani beats out Miguel Andujar for Rookie of the Year, I felt Ohtani should not have been eligible for Rookie of the Year, as he had multiple years of pro ball in Japan. Couldn't help but feel he won because he was Japanese.
Then he beats out Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. for AL MVP, when I would have given it to Vlad.
Since then, just because he can pitch as well as hit, it always seems to me he has become the "Teacher's Pet'"
in baseball. So now I am wonder if the same injustice will occur should he beat out Aaron Judge for AL MVP this year. Reminds me how I felt when Greg Maddux was the previous "Teacher's Pet" because umps would give him favorable strike calls even though the ball was a bit outside. Other pitchers didn't seem to get the same
favors.
But as I said, just my opinion. Other may feel different.

Years ago I used to follow the game, teams, stats, and players in both leagues.
These days I'm down to watching both Florida teams, but mostly Tampa Bay.

Agree, with baseball being so much about stats, it can get obsessive to process it all. I follow mostly the Dodgers. I had followed the A's a bit when they talked of moving to Vegas, but I think they really prefer staying in crime-infested Oakland. They have even lower attendance than their AAA team in Vegas. They want a shiny new stadium on the Oakland harbor and think it will boost attendance. I don't think it will in the long run, also surrounded with low income housing.
Recall Tampa Bay was having issues with the city. But if they move, it would likely be Orlando or at the furthest, Charlotte. But Vegas Rays sounds good - will never happen.
Following baseball is a good diversion away from all the politics.
You wouldn't have to pay me to stay in Oakland -- you would have to shoot me.
Vegas already has Oakland's football team - might as well get their baseball team.
That way they can turn out the lights, and lock the door in Oakland, and let it rot away.
A side note:---
My father took me to see the A's play in 1953 at Connie Mack Stadium.
He was an A's fan. We went to see Bobby Shantz pitch against the Cleveland Indians.

Agree about the A's. If they really want to stay in Oakland, as they say in the South, God Bless Them.
Should be interesting the first time a pitcher takes too long to pitch. Scherzer likes to walk circles when he records a strikeout. I would like to see them do away with the automatic runner on second base in extra innings. I'm not a fan of inter-league play either, or the designated hitter. I am torn about the shift rule.
Too many lose hits if the defense played normal spots. And what about doing away with the three batters to face rule for relievers? I know this next one isn't too popular but there has been too many poor calls for balls and strikes, so I would have no problem with an electronic reader at home.
I used to pitch in a company softball league. The lead off batter on the other team was taking his time getting into the batter's box, so the umpire told me to pitch anyway. I hadn't known about the rule, and when I told him I was waiting for the batter to step in, he called "ball one" on me.
