Boy – was he good!! I used to hate seeing the Cardinals come to town to play the Phillies.
It was a waste of time trying to hit Gibson.

RIP Mr. Gibson.

I guess he was good.  MLB actually lowered the height of the pitcher's mound after the 68 season because of him.  My Dad once said that was the ultimate compliment any pitcher had ever received.  

1968 Season

22-9
1.12 ERA
34 Starts. 28 complete games.  13 shutouts.  

One of the games he lost in '68 Gaylord Perry needed to throw a no hitter to beat him 1-0.  

Oh, almost forgot, he also won 9 gold glove awards in his career.  

Yep, he was good!!   :D

My fondest memory of Gibson is he beating the Red Sox in game 7 of the '67 series.  Yes, being an 18 year old Yankee fan, I took great pleasure in seeing that.
