New vehicles and getting ready IF old jo wins.

Post: # 1173Post The Stranger »

Maybe this makes me a bad man but I drive around in a Chrysler Alpine, avg. gas mileage 12-14mpg. Right now i am ok with it since I only drive it on weekends or when not working and gas here is $1.90 a gallon. Other is a 1987 Mazda B2000 that has starts up everytime i need it, about 22mpg.

Is anyone else looking forward? Honestly if Trump loses we are looking at $4.00 per gallon gas, our elect will go up 25%, stock market will crash and the economy will come to a screeching halt. all will make prices of everything from cloths to food rise.

I am looking at a car that gets 35mpg and there just aren't many American cars to look at? SUV's, & 4x4 pickups are out of the question starting at $40,000.00+.

What's anyone's suggestions since I DO NOT want to buy foreign BUT they seem to have bigger motors, better gas mileage and more to choose from!

Toyota, KIA, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda, all are built here in America.  All have models that get 30+ mpg, and sticker in the 20K range.

I know where they are made but in my SMALL brain the profits still go overseas!
I have looked at a few Toyotas and Hondas.

I'm sure some profits go overseas, but they are employing a lot of Americans right here in the south, from Louisiana to Georgia, and that is just the factories I have passed by on my travels to NC.

Another option is to consider a newer used car.
You can find many examples that will have low mileage, and a service history.
The sale price will already have been depreciated, and you would be buying a car that you don't have to be concerned where the money goes.

This absolutely is the best way to buy a new car.

My wife's 2020 Jeep Cherokee with the 2.0T engine and very creative computer controlled gearing with a ZF 9 Speed Auto gets 35 on a trip and 25 around town. This is with a 3500 pound SUV with AWD. Not telling you to run out and buy a Jeep because we did, but they are over 90% USA product.

Back to that Chrysler Alpine.  My God, I have not heard of one of those in something like 40 years. Were they not a Brit car?  Are you a limey?

Aha, an Aspen. My F-I-L was a car dealer. He used to call those Chrysler Aspirins.
