The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in New Mexico is defending its decision not to arrest two young boys, ages 7 and 9, who were involved in an armed standoff with deputies earlier this year, as reported by The New York Post.

 Drone video released Thursday by BCSO shows the boys hiding behind an outdoor air-conditioning unit while holding a loaded handgun.

The incident took place on February 16 and was revisited during a press briefing where BCSO highlighted its behavioral health unit and a new initiative targeting juvenile firearm-related incidents.

Great police work here and a lot of luck. The fact one kid did not accidently shot the other is a miracle. The kids knew enough to hide behind an object when caught. Perhaps been watching too much tv. Their parents have some explaining to do.

You’re right, it’s a miracle this didn’t end in tragedy. The officers handled it with incredible restraint and skill. It definitely raises serious questions about how these kids accessed firearms and what role parental supervision (or lack of it) played. Hopefully this serves as a wake-up call for the parents and a reminder of how important safe storage laws and practices are

5 gunmen sought in Near West Side fatal shooting. The gunmen exited a dark SUV and opened fire on the 20-year-old man around 11:25 p.m.   Tuesday in the 1000 block of West 14th Street, Chicago police said.

Speaking of miracles, this story popped up on some feed that mixes a lot of pop culture, and left and right sources. I had my doubts, so I looked it up for verification. Folks, this is as weird as it gets.

"Ashley Pardo, 33, was arrested on Monday and charged with aiding in commission of terrorism after she allegedly provided ammunition and tactical gear to her son, whose behavior demonstrated plans for a 'mass targeted violence' aimed at Rhodes Middle School in San Antonio, according to an affidavit obtained by ABC News."
