Judge Rules Drag Shows Cannot Be Banned

In a ruling that should outrage every parent, taxpayer, and conservative voter in Texas, a federal judge has stomped all over the authority of the Texas A&M University Board of Regents—greenlighting a sexually charged, ideologically driven drag show to proceed on campus despite a commonsense ban.

Senior U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal, appointed by George H. W. Bush, issued a sweeping preliminary injunction Monday that forces Texas A&M to allow the so-called “Draggieland” event—a campus drag show hosted by the “***** Empowerment Council” (QEC)—to proceed in the Rudder Theatre.

Do we have a republican  majority or no? Maybe they should all ask their aipac handlers if they can do the jobs people voted them to do.

This is on a college campus right? Ergo the students are legal adults (over age 18). Sounds to me like the ruling probably does follow the existing laws. Now, were this an event targeting anyone under 18 it would be a very different story.

As long as there is a demand for this type of garbage someone will provide it. You cannot legislate morality. In our society, as sick as it is, adults are responsible for their own selection of entertainment.

For some strange reason I don’t have much faith in the House to do anything constructive. Would you say I’m being too cynical?

As long as adults are the only ones attending drag shows or strip clubs then it’s legal. Now, if children are allowed to attend this stuff then there’s a problem that needs to be addressed.

Back in the day when Princess phones (push button) were a novel and exciting option to rotary dialing phones Carol Doda had her normal size ta-tas grossly enlarged.  In SF of course.  Someone financed a club (Condor) in her name wherein she showed off her (amongst many other willing maidens) big boom-booms.  The silicone injections used on her caused all kinds of problems for Carol and thousands of other women in less than a decade.
Hang on, this'll make sense soon, I promise.
Anyhoo, men lined up around the block (Broadway / Columbus) to watch said women expose their chest parts while getting drunk and generally making fools out of themselves.  There were a half dozen security guards at the door and circulating.
Well!, not to be out done, the gay community launched a series of bars with names like Bottom Up.  Wherein anything went and did go.
Then AIDS shot through the gay ranks, spread into the druggy ranks and poisoned donated blood supplies.
The point: there's a price to be paid for debauchery.

I agree that the wages of sin and debauchery result in a ‘not so good’ outcome. That said, in our Constitutional Republic we don’t really legislate morality. Adults are free to privately do as they please as long as there’s not a violation of law taking place.
