Pence attacks Trump's abortion stance

Post: # 100788Post John »

Pence calls Trump’s abortion stance a ‘slap in the face’ to supporters
Former Vice President Mike Pence blasted former President Trump on Monday for embracing the position that abortion policy should be determined by states and avoiding taking a stance on whether the federal government should enforce a national ban at a certain cutoff point.

The Democrats are going to make abortion a huge issue with their usual lies.  Trump leaving it at the state level is the only way a Republican can win.  Pence is typical of those who are tone deaf politically as Rush used to say, "loses with honor".

Judas Pence is not going to support anything Trump says. He still has delusions that his opinion matters to anybody.

As a Christian I do not support abortion, however, I do realize that some do for extreme circumstances.
I also do not believe the Federal government should be involved and that it should go to the states as
it was before Roe vs Wade.  I side with Trump.

My understanding of the SCOTUS ruling was - they did NOT overturn Roe, just threw it back to the states where it belongs in the first place - isn't that just what Trump is now intimating...?

Here's something I can approve, albeit not warmly. Trump's stance is the same as the rest of the country before the Super-preme Court overturned all state laws restricting abortion. From that moment, right-minded people chipped away bit by bit to allow states to keep at least some restrictions.

Fifty years later, as the abortion mentality took root alongside the so-called Sexual Revolution (sex without consequence, sort of. Well, a lot of consequences, actually), outlawing abortion has become an uphill battle. So, this is where we are at present.

I think it's fair to say most, if not all, of us believe abortion should be outlawed just as slavery was. "Don't like abortion? Don't get one." Yeah, "Don't like slavery? Don't own one." Meanwhile, we have to meet the enemy and defeat them on a ground easier to defend. Then win one more battle. And one more battle.

Trump has to win re-election first, the move away from abortion has to be gradual or we will lose…and it will be horrible forever.

I totally agree. If Trump and the GOP were to take a hardline (only for cases of rape, incest, life of the mother, and six weeks maximum) on abortion and try to keep it at a federal level -- no doubt they will lose in November -- and pro lifers will wind up being worse off then they feel they are now -- as the reelection of Biden and both houses of a Democrat Congress will see to that.   The abortion issue is a one-issue issue with so many voters; hence, it will supersede and offset all the other issues (unfortunately, but that's the reality of it). Leaving abortion up to each individual state should take Trump and the federal level GOP out of the abortion issue so that they can run on all the other issues.

Sadly, this country is now long beyond the point that us pro lifers can force and dictate that secular, godless people and quasi Christians  to carry fetuses to term under most all circumstances. Let abortion be decided at the state level. Those states that disallow abortions -- all well and good. Those that want abortions can go to a state that allows it. For those states that allow abortion, that choice will be on the voters' and legislators' conscience -- and they will ultimately have to answer to God in the end.

The problem with the abortion issue is we are faced with overcoming a half decade worth of lies. The term "pro-choice" is itself a lie.  The idea that it is a "privacy" issue is a lie. (Yeah - the right to privacy includes the "right" to conspire to kill another living human being!!) The idea that the unborn are less than human is a lie. Etc. etc. etc. These lies are so prevalent throughout society that even the pro-life faction tends to sway to a number of their lies. We have people in their 50s who have heard nothing BUT those lies since they could talk.  That is a lot of social inertia to get over. And it is not going to come via legislation, but rather education - education that is still facing opposition by the sadly successful pack of lies coming from the left.

Meanwhile, we need to get our country back. And we aren't going to do it by using tactics that keep democrats in power.
