They appeared to think that an ambush of Trump in the Oval would either force him to concede more to Ukraine than he was otherwise willing, or at least humiliate Trump and give them political ammunition they could use to weaken Trump as he romps over them.

Nope, it's not the commie Dem's fault. President Z knows how to do diplomacy as well as anyone. For whatever reason he lost his cool and blew it. And that's on him, no one else.
