NFL and media make big deal about all black officiating crew

The NFL made a very big deal about this, and it annoyed many of those I know. Why should race matter at all? Suppose the officiating pool is 50% white, 50% black. A typical crew then might be half white, half black. It might be on occasion, all white or all black. So what? If race doesn't matter, this shouldn't matter. But it does to the NFL and the media.
