Rays bench Wander Franco for multiple games
Franco has made it more obvious this season when he disagrees with called strikes.

But it seems to be okay when Jose Siri childishly acts out when he strikes out, slamming bats and muttering or trying to break the bat over his knees. I've never noticed Franco acting out as much. I've noticed Siri likes to watch himself hit a homer on his tablet in the dugout after he hits one. And Lord knows what he's doing tweaking his hair all the time. I'm not sure they drug test all these players enough. Makes me wonder why certain players I've noticed rub the bottom of their noses when at bat. It's like they're concerned certain flakes my fall out of their nostrils.

That said -- It is hard for me to believe baseball has not drawn the line on these hair freaks.
Baseball is a tradition, not a latino freak show.
You have to wear a uniform - you can't play dressed in shorts and a tee shirt - why not stop this nonsense?

the need to attach fake dreads to his hair. But I think it answers why he has been tweaking his hair in the dugout.
Siri has displayed more childish attitude than Franco. Siri gets all upset when he disagrees with a call and mutters to the ump. He did it last night, and I wondered why the ump didn't eject him. He has slammed his bat down hard on several occasions. Ever notice when he hits a homer, he sits in the dugout to watch himself hitting on a tablet?
But these are things I am sure Rays management has noticed too and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he isn't with the team next year. It may have been why Houston got rid of him.
Very little humility left in baseball today. I sure do miss baseball in the early sixties. Mickey Mantle said he used to look down all the time when he hit a homer cause he didn't want to show up the pitcher.
But if the Rays want to improve something, they should replace Dewayne Staats. He makes more mistakes with the count and even misnames players a lot. I don't know if he's drunk or dyslexic. And his sidekick BA (for bullshit artist) seems to have diarrhea of the mouth. He just likes to hear himself talk. I am amazed how often Kyle Snyder comes out to the mound, and he does very often.....how he seems to calm down the pitcher and gets him out of a jam.
He's like the "pitcher whisperer".
But I must say the Rays have been most impressive this year. Still a long way to go though. I had posted very early in the season, that I noticed they had a run of playing all the weakest teams. And I am sure that had a lot to do with their standings. But keep in mind the weakest teams can only get better as time goes by.
I had voted for just everyone who was been on the All Star balloting. Only one I didn't agree with was Lindor. He has been a total letdown for the Mets. Matter of fact, the Mets, so far, have been a total letdown for Met fans.
When players sign these outrageous contracts for millions and then suck, I don't blame the fans for booing them.
Remember Chris Davis when he was on the Orioles? Made millions and then did nothing more than strike out most of time. He had been suspended for taking Adderall. A med for ADD.
btw...thanks for replying. Been feeling like I've been spinning my wheels lately on these alternate boards.
Only seem to get one view on most so I've been easing down a bit.

Re: Baseball Bits
Most if not all of these professional players are in their young 20s. They have these grown up bodies topped off with a pre-teen brain. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them don't even know who Mickey Mantle was.
The times I saw Mantle play, I don't remembering him acting like an idiot when he struck out, or jump around and wave his hands like an idiot, when he hit one out. Today a player will sit out a couple of games if he has a sore little toe. Mantle and those back then would play hurt, or hung over on many occasions.
Many years ago they took the bat out of the pitcher's hands and put it into the hands of a designated hitter.
That, for me, was the beginning of the ruining of the game.
The game was different when pitchers were required to bat.
A pitcher that could swing a bat many times determined how the game was played. And even with all that bat swinging, a pitcher back then was still able to pitch 9 innings.
Today its rare to see a pitcher last more than 4 innings.
And YES – I also thought Siri was going to get the boot the time he struck out and was mumbling to the ump. I've seen them get tossed for less. The one thing I do like watching a game today is you can see the strike zone and the pitch location.
