Re: Baseball Bits
Baseball today is not an exact science game. Apparent from comparing the ump balls and strikes calls versus what we see in the box when televised.Nyte_Byrd wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 11:08 am Home Run Derby controversy surrounding Juan Soto, Kyle Schwarber has sports betting world up in arms

The errors usually go both ways - so players and fans can live with the imperfections, even if the bettors cannot.

When you hear of folks dying, be it sports figures or classmates who learn of cancer and get 3 months, puts in perspective all annoyances such as knee problems - are trivial by comparison.Nyte_Byrd wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 5:48 pm Dwight Smith, who won World Series with Braves, dead at 58

I still miss "The Mick". I saw him at Yankee Stadium play in pain. Not like today's players who go on the IL for minor aches.John wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 8:31 pmWhen you hear of folks dying, be it sports figures or classmates who learn of cancer and get 3 months, puts in perspective all annoyances such as knee problems - are trivial by comparison.Nyte_Byrd wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 5:48 pm Dwight Smith, who won World Series with Braves, dead at 58

I also saw him at Yankee stadium in around 1957 - #7. Remember M&M - Maris and Mantle going for HR record in 61.Nyte_Byrd wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 9:35 pmI still miss "The Mick". Dodgers get slugger Gallo from Yankees
https://www.mlb.com/news/joey-gallo-traded-to-dodgers
He was the worst deal for the Yanks since Chris Carter. It was almost predictable each time he got up with two strikes, he would strike out. What a waste of a spot he was. And they just kept putting him in the lineup.

He was much better when he was with the Rangers. NY just didn't fit. Hopefully he'll improve in LA. I'll be rooting for him.Nyte_Byrd wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 3:57 pm Dodgers get slugger Gallo from Yankees

https://www.nj.com/yankees/2022/08/joey ... t-q-a.htmlGallo will be free of New York, free of Yankees fans, free of fan abuse that’s hurt more than people realize. Wherever Gallo ends up, he’ll forget about falling way short of expectations late last year and all of this season after the Yankees traded four good prospects to the Texas Rangers for an All-Star slugger and Gold Glove outfielder who once was the prototypical Three True Outcomes player.
