In a package of 11 papers published Monday in Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences, 56 scientists warned that the global insect population is under siege worldwide. They were trying to quantify a problem that has been dubbed the insect apocalypse.

I'm guessing insecticide will soon be banned. 

I used to use a product called Chlordane for termites until it was banned in 1988. That product was amazing. I used it once and I could continue to smell it for years after it was banned.
