Laptop Brands

I have used Dell laptops and desktops since the 1980's and have been mostly satisfied with them. However, in mid-2022 I bought an Insprion 3510 because it was fast and had Windows 11. It turned out to the be the fastest and most efficient laptop I ever owned, but the screen hinges are the absolutely worst ever. Last year the left hinge froze up and when I opened the screen lid it broke the lid Bessel and ripped the ribbon cable up, so because it was still under warrantee I called and they came out and fixed it.
Now, the warrantee is out and my left hinge broke again. I simply taped it to the open position with aluminum duct tape and will just leave it open. So, I looked at Dells newer laptops and they all have the poorly designed screen hinge system, so I am considering another brand.
How do yawl rate laptop brands? I know people who have Hp, Acre, Lenovo and other brands and seem happy with them. No, i will not do Apple MACS. Any suggestions?

A little silver duct tape and it works!

Easy to see if something gets trapped in that gap between the screen Bessel and PC case it will snap the hinges and stuff.

I'm thinking about this one that is just like my son's, and he takes it traveling all over this planet and it holds up well:

Looking at he specs and images I see the screen to PC is the old style case without the cheap hinges.

Well, I have used Intel CPU's for years and have been happy with them for that I do with a laptop, so I just ordered the: Dell 16 inch Inspiron Laptop with Nvidia MX Discrete | Dell USA. I will find some replacement hinges that someone, somewhere told me that are special made so not to shatter the plastic again and fox this one for my backup. I still have an old Inspiron 3552 with the lousy Windows 10. It works okay but is as slow as Job's turkey right before Thanksgiving. Thanks all for the advice; I'm sure this one will be okay.
Just a gift to me from me for my birthday next month and getting over cancer.

Just got my new Dell laptop and it is great. No hinge problems with this guy. The only thing is setting it up for my taste that MS makes it difficult to say the least.

Well, trying to setup the new Dell and they have made it almost impossible to do with all the 2-step login bullshit having to find passwords, security codes to allow login and any number associated with the reason you tried to long onto some site, by then I have forgotten why I went there in the first place.
The new Dell is great and sturdy as hell, made of aluminum and with huge hinges. It is very fast and efficient. The only problem I have had is getting Quicken 2017 to work, so I s*** canned it and got a better accounting program. Those companies, like MS, don't like us using their paid for programs too long.

My new Dell is also built like a tank. Compared to the one I am now typing on, the screen is taped open so not to close and rip the guts out, but really works great. I have some software problems with Thunderbird and a couple programs, due to tech writers who know nothing about users. when I was in engineering school, back in Bible times, the taught us how to interreact with customers (users) so to design stuff that people could understand how to use. Customer marketing, in other words. Now, after 65 years working on or designing computer hardware and software, I am at a complete loss to how to set one up. Yea, I am getting old as a koot, but I still can read and write.
Anyway, I am happy as lark with my new Dell 5640 laptop. Don't I look just happy? I read about replacement hinges for the 3510 and will fix the taped up one for my wife.
