California's so big it doesn't show up in this report. However, where we live high taxes are on everything.Nyte_Byrd wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:52 am These US states had the highest, lowest property taxes in 2020

Here's a sample:
The median property tax in California is $2,839.00 per year for a home worth the median value of $384,200.00. Counties in California collect an average of 0.74% of a property's assesed fair market value as property tax per year.
The thing is that on the coast you'd be hard pressed to find an empty lot, without utilities, for under $500,000. If you find one it's probably unbuildable or remote. The "typical" house on the coast sells for about $1,000,000.

Maybe California statistics were influenced by the properties unsold and still under Prop 13 limits.SurroundedByLiberals wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 11:23 amCalifornia's so big it doesn't show up in this report. Actually, most of the Prop 13 homes have been sold and resold over the past several decades; they're on the higher rate now.John wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 11:46 amMaybe California statistics were influenced by the properties unsold and still under Prop 13 limits.SurroundedByLiberals wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 11:23 amCalifornia's so big it doesn't show up in this report.
